![]() It came out a two years after the second game. ![]() The game received a pretty nice update for a 2003 release. I think people at Remedy were really impressed by the use of cinematic models in Metal Gear Solid 2 when they were developing Max Payne 2. Max Payne 1 used in-game models for the realtime cinematic sequences. So are the cleaning guys with the hostage. The cleaning guy pointing up as well as Max holding the gun are cinematic models. The image where Max is aiming his gun at a TV set is also a cinematic model. For example, the the first image shows a cinematic model of Max Payne that was made for that specific camera angle. Models also have facial animation as opposed to the flat textures of the first game.Īnd Max Payne 2 also uses 'cinematic' in-engine models for cutscenes. The character models are also much higher polygon. Max Payne 2 uses Remedy's MaxFX 2 engine, which was updated with a DX9 renderer and incorporates Havok Physics. I was playing this with a widescreen hack as well. But still doesn't have any widescreen support. The game also supports arbitrary resolutions. ![]() Max Payne 2 is much easier to get running on current OSes than Max Payne 1.
